2017 Commencement Ticket Information

To ensure adequate seating all ceremonies will be ticketed.

The actual number of guest tickets available to each candidate will depend upon the number of candidates attending each ceremony. Please visit your ceremony webpage for information specific to your ceremony.

All guests attending must have a ticket for entry. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. 

Children 3 and under do not need a ticket but will need to remain on a parent's lap for the duration of the ceremony.

Please be aware that Commencement tickets are University property and the sale and/or copying of Commencement tickets is strictly prohibited.

Ordering Tickets

If you file your graduation application on time (see your checklist for deadlines) and are approved by your College/School or the Graduate Division to participate at Commencement, you may order guest tickets online via the Commencement website beginning April 20 through April 27, 2017 at 4:00 p.m.

If you file your application to graduate after the deadline or do not order your guest tickets by Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 4:00 p.m., the number of guest tickets you may receive is no longer guaranteed and will depend upon availability. Late registration will be open April 28 through May 18. 

Commencement Ticket Distribution

Commencement tickets must be picked up in person, and you must show a valid ID.

If you are unable to pick your tickets up yourself, you may select one of the following options when you place your order:

  • You may designate a courier to pick them up for you. Your courier must show a valid ID when they pick your tickets up.
  • You may place your tickets on will call status, and pick your tickets up yourself when you arrive on campus for your ceremony. Will Call tickets will be available for pick-up 90 minutes prior to your ceremony start time at the Ticket Information Booth by the Bell Tower.

Commencement tickets ordered online will be available for pick up at the University Theatre Box Office (Humanities Building) for the following times:   

  • Monday, May 8 - Friday, May 12, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • Monday, May 15 - Friday, May 19, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

If you are unable to pick your tickets up at the University Theatre Box Office (Humanities Building) your tickets will be available at Will Call 90 minutes prior to your ceremony start time at the Ticket Information Booth by the Bell Tower. Please note, 15 minutes before the ceremony start time all remaining tickets will be handed out to guests in need of tickets.

Unused Tickets

Please return any tickets that you will not be using to the Office of Event Management & Protocol, 1144 Hinderaker Hall, so that they can be made available to other students.

Lost Tickets

Lost tickets are not able to be replaced.

Additional Tickets

Information regarding the availability of additional tickets will be announced at the end of May 2017.
